Be Smart Be Safe

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service wants to help you to stay safe in your home, on the road and whilst at work. There are many small steps we can all take to protect ourselves from fire and other accidents. By being smart and being safe, we can all help to make Surrey an even safer place to live, work and travel.

Be Smart Be Safe...in the home

Is your home safe from fire? Do you know the potential dangers to look out for? Firefighters from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service are appealing to Surrey residents to consider a free home fire risk check in order to answer these very questions.

Firefighters from your local fire station will visit your home at a convenient time to complete a series of fire safety checks. They will also talk through an escape plan with you to make sure all members of the household know what to do and are aware of an alternative escape route in the event of fire. To find out more, see the home fire risk check section.

Be Smart Be Safe...on the road

Surrey has some of the busiest motorway and road networks in the country and unfortunately, as a result, firefighters have to attend a number of road traffic collisions across the county each day.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service is working with its partners to offer advice to drivers to prevent road traffic collisions occurring in the first place. See the road safety and Safe Drive, Stay Alive sections for more information. Please help us to make our roads safer by reducing your speed, concentrating at all times and by being aware of the road conditions.
